Discover how Damian Family Care Centers brought their team together at the New York Hall of Science for an inspiring staff offsite filled with workshops, team-building, and memorable moments. Captured by Alex Kaplan Photography.
At the heart of every great organization is a team that feels valued, connected, and inspired. That’s exactly what the Damian Family Care Centers (DFCC) achieved during their recent staff offsite at the New York Hall of Science—and I had the honor of photographing every moment.
As a professional event photographer, I specialize in capturing the real, unscripted energy that makes corporate events meaningful. This one? It was exceptional.

Kicking Off with Purpose and Positivity
The day began in the venue’s auditorium, where DFCC leadership set the tone. They spoke passionately about the culture they’re shaping, emphasizing the values of mutual respect, problem-solving, and rising to challenges. Their acronym L.O.V.E.—Living Our Values Everyday—wasn’t just a slogan, it was a guiding principle. Capturing the focused attention and authentic reactions during these sessions highlighted just how invested this team is in their mission.
Building Community Through Group Work
After the opening remarks, staff broke into small teams for workshops and group discussions. These weren’t your standard breakout sessions—they were dynamic, thoughtful, and hands-on. As I moved through the space photographing each group, the enthusiasm and collaboration were obvious. You could see relationships strengthening in real-time.
Immersive Learning in Action
The setting couldn’t have been more perfect. The New York Hall of Science offered a unique blend of inspiration and interaction. Staff explored science-themed exhibits, including bubble stations that sparked pure joy—and great candid shots. These moments of play reminded everyone (and me behind the camera) that discovery and fun are key ingredients of workplace culture.
Team-Building Meets Creativity
One of the most visually striking moments of the day came during the team-building engineering challenge. Each group was tasked with constructing a structure from foil and simple materials—one sturdy enough to fit a person inside. I captured incredible moments of teamwork, laughter, and ingenuity. These images speak volumes about how creative collaboration can strengthen teams.
Soaking Up the Sunshine
After a packed agenda, the team transitioned to the museum’s outdoor area. There, they enjoyed the fresh air, lounge-style seating, and interactive playground pieces. Some relaxed while others embraced the chance to spin, laugh, and pose for impromptu group photos. It was the perfect way to close out the day—fun, light-hearted, and full of camaraderie.
Final Reflections
What stood out most during this event wasn’t just the activities or location—it was the people. The DFCC team showed up with purpose, heart, and openness. Photographing their journey throughout the day was more than just a job—it was a front-row seat to a workplace culture that truly lives its values.
If your company is planning a corporate event or offsite and you want the energy, connection, and impact of your day professionally documented, I’d love to help you tell your story through powerful, candid photography.
